Gibraltar Gaming Duty Cap

Definition

Gibraltar Gaming Duty applies at 0.15% of gaming yield with a hard cap of GBP 425,000 per operator per year. The cap is quoted far more often than it applies: at 0.15% it only starts to bind above roughly GBP 283m of gaming yield, so an operator below that simply pays 0.15% and the cap never enters the calculation. Where it does bite the effect is large — an operator on GBP 1bn pays the capped GBP 425,000 rather than GBP 1.5m, an effective rate of 0.04%.
