Isle of Man virtual-currency (crypto) provisions
IoM rules letting licensees accept virtual-asset deposits (2017 regulations; Regs 2008 as amended) plus the Token/Blockchain Software Supplier Licence.
Definition
Isle of Man licensees may accept deposits in money's worth including virtual assets under the Online Gambling (Registration and Account) Regulations 2008 as amended; 2017 regulations extended this to convertible and non-convertible virtual currencies under GSC AML and player-fund safeguards — among the earliest explicit crypto provisions in a Tier 1 gambling jurisdiction. Since 2019 blockchain software providers have had a voluntary licensing route, and the GSC now names a Token/Blockchain Software Supplier Licence (GBP 52,500 a year).
