Definition
The Malta Gaming Authority is the principal regulator for online gambling in Malta. Established 2004, it administers the Gaming Act 2018 framework covering B2C Type 1-4 licences and the B2B Critical Gaming Supply Licence. The Authority reported 302 licensed companies holding 311 licences at the end of 2025, and gaming generating 6.3% of Maltese gross value added, or 8.2% including multiplier effects — not the 12% of GDP that circulates widely.
