Sweden's gambling regulator since 1 January 2019 re-regulation under the Spellag.
Definition
Spelinspektionen is the Swedish Gambling Authority established under the 2018 Spellag when Sweden re-regulated the online gambling market on 1 January 2019. It issues two separate commercial B2C licences — kommersiellt onlinespel under 7 kap. and vadhallning under 8 kap. — plus a gambling-software permit under 11 kap. 6 a §, and it administers Spelpaus. Counted from its own register on 19 September 2026: 76 entities hold the online licence, 65 hold betting, 60 hold both, giving 81 distinct B2C companies, against 203 holders of a software permit.
