Spelpaus
Sweden's mandatory central self-exclusion register; cross-operator scope across Spelinspektionen licensees.
Definition
Spelpaus is the Swedish national self-exclusion register under 14 kap. 12 § of the Spellag, administered by Spelinspektionen. Self-exclusion registered anywhere applies simultaneously across every Swedish-licensed operator. Since 1 August 2026, SIFS 2026:3 specifies how the checks must run: a check counts as performed only once the register has answered whether the person is excluded, the licensee's own assigned credentials must be used even where a platform provider performs the check on its behalf, and direct-marketing checks may only run against the marketing APIs while registration and login checks may only run against the login API.
